Ladies and Gents, The time has come for me, Lindsey, to move on to not necessarily greener or prettier pastures but different ones none the less. I have wholeheartedly enjoyed working with the gals at each of the Wedding 101 Studios, watching as this once small little business has grown from one to three, and meeting each and every bride, groom, and vendor alike. The pretty inspiration and education will still continue right here on the blog. You’ll simply have a different guide. Over the years there I’ve gathered a few hard and fast rules when it comes to wedding planning and want to share them with you before I move on.

1. It’s your wedding so be true to your style and you’ll never go wrong. Ignore the haters and just do what you want when it comes to style.
2. If you have a small budget you are going to need a small guest list. It will make the planning and budgeting process so much easier. You can’t squeeze orange juice from a rock. If the money isn’t there for 200 guests, then just it isn’t there. People will understand your want of a ‘small intimate wedding’ and if they don’t, you really don’t want them at your wedding anyway.
3. No matter how pretty the flowers are or how perfect your dress is, if you haven’t had a good day it won’t bring back the happy memories you’ve been longing for. Do what you have to in order to make the day of as easy and relaxing as possible. Hire a planner or coordinator, don’t try to be superwoman and do everything yourself. I promise you’ll thank me on this one. If you’re a control freak like me, find someone you know you can trust and let them be the main contact so you can enjoy getting ready rather than worrying about ‘cocktail napkins’ like I did.
4. At the end of the day, all that matters is that you are marring the love of your life. That can happen with a ordained minister, two witnesses, you and your significant other, and a marriage license. When you think about it like that, perhaps not being able to rent those vintage plates won’t ruin the day after all.

That’s it. I’m sure if I think here long enough I can come up with a few more but those are my top rules and if you’ve been a long time reader, you know them by heart of course. I’ll miss writing to you each week, seeing your beautiful real weddings, and helping to make your big days all that you want them to be but I’m also excited for new thing to come. Hugs, and always, congratulations!

• 2 1/2 cups granulated sugar; divided
• 1/4 cup coconut oil (almond oil will also work)
• 1 lemon

From Jessie Holloway Photography: Meeting Cait and Joel at their engagement session, only made me more excited about their day. They are playfully in love, and so obviously caring about one another. When I heard Cait and Joel had booked CJ’s I was even more excited (if that was possible!). I had gotten to shoot there once before, and I instantly had fallen in love with the historical/rustic feel of the place. Sure enough, when I arrived everything looked just amazing, and Cait and Joel were beaming with wedding day excitement. Their first look made my heart flutter, and their decor details added such a special feeling. These two are match made in heaven, and I can’t imagine a more fitting overall day to encompass their love. Read more…

So today’s DIY goes right along with Wednesday’s post about guest top complaints. If you are having an outdoor wedding you may not think about all the little annoying bugs but they will no doubt be out in droves thanks to our mild winter. This DIY takes care of those little pesky creatures. Set up a little table for your guests and if there’s a chance they’ll be in the sun for an extended period, also provide some sunblock.

Good morning ladies and gents! We’re sharing yet another great real this time from Sposa Bella Photography of Greenville, SC! I think my favorite parts of this wedding are the bagpipers and the ceremony set up. Proof you don’t have to limit seating to two straight rows.

You would think it was because they are a gorgeous couple, or the fact that they have amazing families to be around or possibly because of the stunning location.
