We are SO excited that the NotWedding is coming to Nashville soon! To help you learn more about this incredible event, we’ve invited Ala Bishop, from the NotWedding team, to write a guest blog post about how it all got started!

The NotWedding started out as a hobby. Back in 2008, founder and owner Callie Murray was looking for an effective way to market herself as a young wedding photographer breaking into the industry. She rallied a few wedding vendor friends and put together an event that would give attending brides a practical look at what vendors in the area had to offer. It was a hit! The NotWedding became an annual event in Atlanta. Over time, some enthusiastic ladies joined on to help The NotWedding spread and grow, and now we’re pulling off an event each month in 10 different cities across the country! To say we’ve been blessed is an understatement.

Now, we are happy, proud and excited to be breaking ground soon in Nashville, TN! We come with the same three goals at heart that Callie started the business with 5 years ago:
Promote small business
We want to come into your town, gather up all the best, most-trustworthy small wedding vendors, and provide them with the opportunity to put their best foot forward in front of a room full of blushing brides. Our goal is also to see this experience create a network of small business vendors within a city—a family, if you will—that provides referrals and assistance for each other when needed.
We want the young women and soon-to-be-marrieds of Nashville to have their eyes opened to the many possibilities for their wedding day – to be released from convention and inspired to innovation and creativity. We want them to come away saying “NOW I know what I want my wedding to look like, and I know exactly who to call to help me do it.”
Encourage solid marriage
We believe very firmly in turning a couple’s gaze past their wedding day. We believe in marriage planning, not just wedding planning. Women of Nashville, your wedding day may seem like the biggest day of your life. We’d like to encourage you to see it as the first day of the biggest journey of your life. We sprinkle our blog with content and real couple’s stories meant to encourage and uplift you through the struggles of being a newlywed, through mid-life crisis, all the way to the changes and joys that come 40 years in. Yeah, 40 is a big number these days. But we believe in it.
So, come crash the party! We can’t wait to see you there.
