Okay, I must admit… I just spent well over an hour typing this post. I when to hit the publish button and it was deleted… No draft saved… Just deleted. I’m going to try to remember all the brilliance I had typed but don’t hold it against me. Evidently the internet hates me today.
I’m a big believer that YOUR, as you as a couple, big day should reflect YOUR style. Not the planner’s, not the sylist’s, not Aunt Mary’s… YOURS.
A few weeks ago I was at a bridal show in Knoxville, TN and heard two Planners/Stylists bash the Vintage/Rustic/Southern style that has been a huge trend over the last several years. Basically they’re tired of it so it’s ‘out’. I could visually see that those two ladies comments crushed several brides around me.

I mean WOWZERS. All I could do was hope that those brides had the courage to not listen to them! I may have also commented with a loud and sarcastic, “Yeah… Right. Keep telling yourselves that ladies.”
I say, HECK NO! Why? Because as long as there is one couple out there who feel that aesthetic translates their style and wants their wedding to reflect that, it’ll be ‘in’.
I do get, that from a professional standpoint, doing the same thing over and over again get’s dull but I don’t believe in trying to tell someone that what they want isn’t what they want. Our job is to listen to what you want and then produce it. Don’t let anyone, not even Aunt Mary, tell you that what you want is out.
I think one of the biggest components to vendor shopping is finding one that you have a personal connection with. It makes a huge difference when it comes to working with someone that can relate to you as opposed to someone you don’t click with.
There’s so many styles from Classic to Modern to Vintage. As long as they style fits you as a couple, it will always be in style!

Oh what a wonderful weekend! We got a lot accomplished but I hated to see it come to an end. What all did you ladies and gents do? Football, hiking, shopping, maybe a little planning?
Teale Photography sent over this great wedding to share. I love all the personal touches the Bride and Groom added. They tackled a lot of this wedding themselves and knowing how much work that takes, I have to say, I’m impressed! Enjoy! Read more…
