Another super simple but BIG impact DIY today! I’ve always loved this rug from Design Within Reach and immediately thought of it when I saw this pretty handwritten ceremony backdrop. It’s a great way to incorporate your favorite love quotes, poems, or even your vows into your day.

Here’s what you’ll need:

• Words to write
• large roll of drawing paper
• Sumi ink (used in Japanese Calligraphy and found at Art Supply stores)
• Japanese Calligraphy brush
• Backdrop stand to hang it from on the big day (ask your photographer about renting one)

Here’s how it’s done:

1. Use the calligraphy brush to write out what ever you like with the sumi ink. You may want to put some plastic down under the paper to protect the surface underneath from bleed through.
2. Let each paragraph dry thoroughly before you roll the paper back up onto the roll to store it for your wedding day.
